Current Projects

Sukeban Deka (with HappyScans)

Asamiya Saki is the hardest of hardcore highschool delinquents; so bad they had to send her to a secret super jail reachable only by helicopter.  In a plan I can only imagine is a precursor to the police recruitment policies seen in Cyber City Oedo, Saki is recruited as a secret detective to fight crime in the one place the Japanese police can't go: high school.  If that sounds like the premise for a goofy comedy to you, you'll change your tune once you see that first bus full of school children go off a cliff and explode.  Other highlights include weaponized yo-yos, dramatic speeches about good and evil, and secret motorcycle assassination cleavage snakes.

Shut Hell (volume 3 onward, with HappyScans and Manga at the End of Time)

She lost everything when the Mongol hordes overran the Tangut Empire (also known as the Western Xia or Xi-xia), so she went crazy in the desert, killed all the wolves with her teeth, wore the biggest one as a cape and set out to kill Genghis Khan and all his armies.  He thought burning all writing was a bad idea, so he ran away with an old servant, a big hawk and a collection of classic poetry inscribed on jade tablets.  Together, they will do things I'm not going to tell you because this is supposed to be spoiler-free.  A combination of memorable characters, unusual setting and Itoh Yu's expressive, energetic art make this one of the three series I actually buy as they come out.

Shin Mazinger Zero (with HappyScans and Dynamic Pro Scanlations)

Tabata Yoshiaki and Yuuki Yogo's (Akumetsu; Wolf Guy) surprising take on the grand-daddy of piloted super robots.  Their blend of humor, horror, and eroticism frequently bordering on the uncomfortable make the pair a good fit for a Nagai Go property in my book, and their take on Doctor Hell can only be called inspired.

Monster Girl Encyclopedia Novellas

The various works of prose fiction set in the world established in Kenkou Cross' Monster Girl Encyclopedia.  I currently have copies of Fallen Brides, Diaries of the Age of Monster Love 1 and 2, Baphomet Complex, and Inari-Kitsune Love Story.  I hope to acquire more of the novellas as time goes on and to gradually translate all of them.

Yagyū Jūbei Dies (with HappyScans)

Ishikawa Ken's incomplete adaptation of Yamada Fūtarō's final novel, and the conclusion of the trilogy that began with The Yagyū Ninja Scrolls and Makai Tenshō. A ninja Tokugawa Ieyasu from an alternate timeline invades Edo Period Japan with advanced technology, and only legendary one-eyed swordsman Yagyū Jūbei can stop him.

Devilman vs Hades (with HappyScans)

A sequel to the original Devilman that pits the titular antihero against Hades, Great Mazinger villain and lord of the underworld. When Devilman tries to return dead souls to the land of the living, he sparks a conflict that may be just as cataclysmic as the infamous conclusion to his own series.
